Coroner's records may contain inquest papers, post mortem reports, sudden death files and other case papers.
The records we keep for each district are:
- Bishops Stortford, 1953 – 1958
- Hemel Hempstead, 1877 – 1901; 1908 - 1959; 1988 - 1996.
- Hertford, 1827 – 1840; 1870 – 1883; 1904; 1912; 1934 - 1996
- Hitchin, 1960 – 1996
- St Albans, 1939; 1942 – 1945; 1952-1974
- Watford, 1944 – 1974
- St Albans and Watford, 1975 – 1996
The earliest records are indexed on Hertfordshire Names Online and date from 1827 to 1933.
Inquest records from the late 1990s onwards are dealt with by the Coroner's Service.
